Romantic Persian wedding in France

Not so long ago I shared with you the first pictures of the amazing wedding in Paris. This was only the photo shoot, but I have more beautiful moments and pictures to share! After a lovely photo shoot in Paris it was time to get married!

A magical castle

The next day when I arrived at the location everybody was busy preparing the big day. Leila and Mehdi had arranged a beautiful en private location just outside Paris. A magical castle where they could stay with all their guests. This made it already a relaxed atmosphere.

Everybody was enjoying themselves while Leila and Mehdi were getting ready. Leila had her make-up done in a beautiful room. She already looked stunning without her wedding dress, but after she put on the dress she looked like a princess! In another room Mehdi was getting ready with his family and friends, looking very stylish! In the afternoon it was time for the ceremony.

Persian wedding | Beautiful Iranian traditions

The couple is originally from Iran, but living in the Netherlands for a long time now. But they used a lot of rituals from the culture of Iran.

As you may know I love to learn about wedding rituals in other weddings and typical for an Iran wedding is a table in front of the couple displaying all kinds of things that symbolize different things. Like candy that symbolize a sweetened life for the newlyweds.

During the ceremony their friends held a cloth above their head and one friend was rubbing two sugar cones against each other above the cloth. This to ‘shower’ their life and marriage with sweetness.

Time to party and eat

After the ceremony it was time for party, diner and cake! In no particular order, everybody can party when they want! Before cutting the cake there was another interesting ritual, where the sister of the bride steals the knife. She dances around the knife, passing it to others, and the groom has to buy the knife back! It took some money, but then they finally could cut their cake, which was covered with real roses.

The day ended with a party in the garden on one of the hottest days of the year. A beautiful day and I am happy to meet Leila and Mehdi and thankful for their trust in me.

This wedding I did together with Sara Letschert Photography, and I want to thank Sara for her trust in me and letting me capture this wedding.

I wish Leila and Medhi all the best and a beautiful future together!
